Benjamin Macklowe joined Macklowe Gallery in 1994, was appointed Managing Director in 2002 and became its President in 2012. Under his leadership, Macklowe Gallery has become the world’s most respected dealer of Antique and Estate Jewelry, French Art Nouveau decorative arts and the entire oeuvre of Louis Comfort Tiffany.
Macklowe has appeared on television to discuss Tiffany lamps with Martha Stewart, lectured on the lamps and glassware of Louis Comfort Tiffany at Winterthur Museum and taught about Art Nouveau jewelry at Christie’s auction house and the 92nd Street Y. He has helped expand the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Dallas Museum, The Newark Museum and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, selling important decorative works of art and jewelry to add to these important collections.
LBR PR has worked closely with Macklowe to define his target audience and research organizations, institutions, clubs and individuals who can connect him to a wider array of these affluent and aspirational collectors. Simultaneously, we have leveraged his thought leadership to create and refine four expert lectures exploring the breadth and depth of Maclowe’s expertise on topics ranging from Louis Comfort Tiffany and Gilded Age New York to the Art Deco and Art Nouveau periods as well an exploration of the question “Why Collect?” As a result, LBR PR has booked dozens of events leading to greater awareness for Macklowe and the gallery, new client relationships, and direct sales.
