The Curator Gallery featured Sky Descending: Texas Landscapes by Gay Gaddis, curated by Rebecca Michelman from April 7 to May 7, 2016. The exhibition featured over 20 landscape paintings that explored the changing weather in the Texas hills. Swept up by the seasons, colors and weather, as well as the big Texas skies, Gaddis channeled the beauty and harshness of nature into the work at her debut New York gallery show. After earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art in 1977, Gaddis launched a career in the advertising industry that combined her artistic and creative skills with her love of writing. Her career and parental responsibilities took precedence over her passion for painting during these years, but she never abandoned her roots as a painter.
Gaddis, who is well known in the business world as the founder of the T3 advertising firm, credits her business acumen to her training as an artist, and draws inspiration for both endeavors from her Texas ranch. To amplify the news of Gaddis’ first NYC show, LBR PR explored a number of angles when pitching the press. First, we let the quality and depth of the work speak for itself, seeking and securing art press including artnet News and PaperMag.com. We also explored the story of Gaddis’ “second act” in art and her partnership with fellow businesswoman-turned-art-world-influencer Ann S. More, the former Chairman and CEO of Time Inc., in placements including Guest of a Guest and the podcast All The Social Ladies.
